Synopsis

Podhurl Inc. is seeking a talented vector artist to design game elements in the style of several popular card games.  The artist would need to create a unified, modern style and produce vector resources as outlined below in both small and large form factors.

Requirements

All card designs must have a small scale 16px-wide design and full sized design scalable from 32px-wide and up (in practice, these will be used at 32px, 42px and 64px widths; height is unconstrained in order to create a appealing card-like design).  Designs are required in fully-scalable SVG, SVG.GZ or AI files.

All designs should have a top-down view unless otherwise specified; lighting and shadow may be applied, and should be constant to create modern visual appeal. ( as an example, http://findicons.com/icon/177343/credit_card_blue?id=177667 would be acceptable for lighting and shading).  These cards will be used in games in the style of Uno™, Phase 10™ or Skip-bo™ (trademarks of their respective owners, and the finished cards may NOT bear the trademarks of these games).

• A simple blank vector card design.
• Four variations of simple card-back/reverse designs.
• Colored designs for the following cards (the colors should be changeable, but, at a minimum must contain red, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange and black symbols and edge colorings).  The symbol should be placed large in the center of the card, with a smaller version in each of the opposing corners.  These must be original designs.
  • The numbers 0-12
  • A card bearing the inset image two blank cards of the same color (for the draw two card in some games).
  • A card bearing the text “DRAW TWO” with “+2″ as the smaller symbol
  • A card with a circle and line crossing the circle (standard “Do Not [enter]” symbol; representing “skip” in some games).
  • A card bearing the text “SKIP” with “S” as the smaller symbol.
  • A card with reversing arrows (for the “Reverse” card of some games)
  • A card bearing the text “RETURN” with “R” as the smaller symbol.
  • A card with forward arrows (for the “Pass hand” card of some games)
  • A card bearing the text “PASS” with “P” as the smaller symbol.
  • A card bearing the text “WILD” with “W” as the smaller symbol.
  • A card bearing the inset image four blank cards of the same color (for the draw four card in some games).
  • A card bearing the text “DRAW FOUR” with “+4″ as the smaller symbol.
• A black design with red, greeen, blue and yellow coloring bearing the text “WILD” with “W” as the smaller symbol with a second version without the “WILD” text.
• A black design with red, greeen, blue and yellow coloring bearing the text “DRAW FOUR” with “+4″ as the smaller symbol.
• A black design bearing the inset image four blank cards of red, green, blue and yellow (for the wild draw four card in some games).

Contractor must provide at least 3 examples of previous vector work as well as at least one past reference.  Contractor may be required to re-work the design to meet stylistic expectation, and should be prepared to provide a small batch of card images initially for review.

Bids may be submitted with the above requirements to Robin Monks – robin@robinmonks.com and should list the total price for the contractor to perform the work described in accordance with the description and terms included.

Important Notes

The cost of developing and submitting the bid response is entirely the responsibility of the vendor.  This includes costs to determine the nature of the engagement, preparation of the bid response, submitting the bid response, negotiating for the contract and other costs associated with this Solicitation.  All responses will become the property of Podhurl Inc.

Award shall be to the lowest responsible bidder taking into consideration conformity with the specifications, terms of delivery and other conditions imposed by this Request for Quote.

Podhurl Inc. reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bid responses or part of a bid response; to waive any informalities or technicalities; clarify any ambiguities in bid responses; modify any criteria in this Solicitation; and unless otherwise specified, to accept any item in a bid response.

Once a winning bid is selected; Podhurl Inc. will notify the bidder of said acceptance.  If the selected bidder is no long able to perform the services requested the award will go to the next most favorable bidder.  If the selected bidder agrees to provide services as outlined, they will agree to provide service with payment on delivery, or on a written contract for all bids over $100 USD.  Podhurl Inc. may accepted pre-pay or partial-pre-pay bids under $100 USD without signed contract at its sole discretion.

Podhurl Inc. shall not be required to purchase any insurance against loss or damage to any personal property nor shall Podhurl Inc. establish a “self‑insurance” fund to protect against any loss or damage.  The vendor shall bear the risk of any loss or damage to any personal property.

Podhurl Inc. reserves the right to reject, on arrival at destination, any items which do not conform to specification of this Solicitation.

Podhurl Inc. may terminate this contract, or any part of this contract, for cause under any one of the following circumstances:

Unless specified otherwise, Payment Terms are Net 30 days.  The Contracts accepts this means Podhurl Inc. will initiate a transfer of funds via PayPal, or have a cheque postmarked to The Contractor within this period.
